Glass Enameling: 6-Class Series
Wednesday, October 9 @ 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm
This series with Cathy Holley explores six different enameling techniques to create beautiful pieces of art that can be hung or worn, depending on your choice of copper blanks.
This 6-class series is SOLD OUT but you are welcome to book private enameling classes with Cathy. If you’ve previously taken the Intro to Enameling class, you can choose one of the styles of enameling below for a private class session!
This class meets for 6 consecutive sessions.
Week 1 – using stencils to create designs
Week 2 – sgraffito – removing powdered enamel to create your design
Week 3 – separation enamel – applying a special enamel that reacts in fun ways with layers
Week 4 – drawing with graphite pencils and prepping your piece for next week
Week 5 – “Scratch Board” enameling – scratching off the black coating applied last week to create unique designs and then fire
Week 6 – applying silver foil under translucent enamels to add sparkle
Co-Op Members who complete the entire series are eligible to sign up for kiln time (when available) for a small fee. Students can also retake this series and work independently or with teacher guidance on new techniques.
