Copper Fold Forming Jewelry Class | Level 1

Sunday, June 23 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

$30.00

Fold Forming metal is similar to origami for paper, but is used for creating jewelry and sculptures rather than animal shapes.

In this beginning class, we will discuss the properties of metal and how to do a simple, single fold to create texture and interest. Students will learn to anneal (temporarily soften) the metal with a torch, use various hammers to intensify the fold lines, use stamps to make designs, use pliers to create ripples, and turn sterling wire into ear wires.

Each person will have a practice square to try designs on and then will complete 2 pairs of earrings.

This class is required to take the Fold Form 2 class where we will learn 2 more folds. Additional parts 3 and 4 classes are planned for this series.

All class materials are included. We will work with 22/24 gauge copper that is already cut into basic shapes. Other tools that will be used include torches with soldering stations, a variety of hammers, knives to open the folds, steel blocks, metal sheers, metal punches, metal stamps, and a variety of pliers. Due to the tools we are using, this class is limited to adults 18 and older.

Your instructor is Cathy Holley, artisan owner of Cat’s Hollow Designs.
