Introduction to Watercolor:
Private Class

In this private class, we'll learn basic watercolor skills while creating some lovely small pieces! Students will learn fundamental techniques to make the water work for them. We'll explore how to make soft, blended colors and bright, bold strokes. Watercolor is a joy once you understand how paints and water work together (and sometimes create happy surprises)! Glass Enameling:
Crackle Technique

Somerset Artists' Co-Op 206 South Market Street, Somerset, OH, United States

Just like separation enameling, Crackle enameling uses multiple color layers and a specialized enamel that pushes through the layers and spreads the colors in unexpected patterns. However, where separation pushes down through several layers, Crackle pushes UP to disperse the colors, and crackle can be used on a much larger variety of colors and designs.

Students will use their choice of enamel colors, clear crackle enamel, copper squares, a variety of enameling tools. All materials are included.

This class is for adults 18+.

Crochet for Beginners

Learn all the basic stitches of crochet, all the basic terminology and how to make a granny square! This skill can be used to make all different kinds of finished products such as sweaters, blankets, hot pads, and so much more.

Students will receive one crochet hook and 2 different colors of yarn to take home with to continue their practice.

Open Studio

We invite anyone who has tried or regularly enjoys enameling to join enameling instructor Cathy Holley for a relaxed open studio session where you can play with and share your favorite techniques with other enameling lovers. We can supply enamels and copper for those who need them or bring your own supplies for a lower fee. Choose the seat type that suits your situation best. Sign up today for a great opportunity to share with and learn from others!

Feel free to bring any food and drinks that you’d like. Times listed are when the studio will be available, but you are welcome to come in later or leave earlier. Fees, however, will remain the same. Ages 18+.

SENIOR CENTER EVENT: Watercolor Easter Eggs

Perry County Senior Center 520 First Street, New Lexington, United States

This is a special event sponsored by the Perry County Senior Center! We will be on-site at the Center creating watercolor-painted Easter eggs!

Each person will be able to create up to three eggs, ready for gifting and display, using Daniel Smith watercolors on hollow plastic eggs. The surface of the eggs is matte finish and works well with watercolor! Create your own designs or follow-along to create a few floral designs such as the Hyacinth shown in the photo.

All supplies included with take-home egg holders and gift boxes so you can gift or display your creations! Registration limited to 10 Seniors.

Stencil Technique

Using stencils gives us the opportunity to see designs in sections rather than as a whole. We will use multiple parts of stencils with an assortment of transparent enamels to create a type of collage on copper that can be used as a one-of-a-kind wall or table decoration.

Students will use plastic stencils, transparent enamels, sifters, copper, and an enameling kiln. All materials are included.

Please wear closed toed shoes as we will be working with hot metal. This class is for adults 18+.
