Kids Creativity Camp Week 2 Session 1

Somerset Artists' Co-Op 206 South Market Street, Somerset

Session 1 from 10 am-12 pm is for children 12 years old and under. 15 spots available.

This immersive studio-style camp invites young artists to dive deeper into the creative process. Led by our After School Art Club instructor, students will be working on thoughtfully planned, skill-building projects across a variety of mediums such as painting, mixed media, and sculpture.

Projects are designed to encourage creativity, problem-solving, and artistic confidence, with some pieces extending across multiple days to allow for more in-depth exploration. All materials provided.

The schedule for Kids Creativity Camp is as follows:

Day 1: Welcome & Clay Creations
We'll kick off the week by getting to know one another, decorating our personal sketchbooks, and learning our studio expectations. Campers will warm up with a fun doodle drawing game before diving into clay, where they'll create unique projects such as magnets, paint palettes, coil pots, or other imaginative sculptures.

Day 2: Pottery Finishing & Paper Creations
Students will design color plans in their sketchbooks before glazing their clay creations (depending on dry time, glazing may occur on Day 3) We'll also begin exciting paper-based projects, including paper mâché sculptures and experimenting with making handmade paper.

Day 3: Painting & Mixed Media
Artists will explore a variety of painting techniques by experimenting with color, texture, and creative tools before creating their own large canvas and mini canvas masterpieces. We'll also discover the magic of oil pastel transfer art and other mixed-media techniques.

Day 4: Wearable Art & Collaborative Creativity
Campers will design and decorate their own T-shirts and pencil pouches while continuing to paint and finish their paper mâché projects. We'll also work together on a large collaborative art piece that showcases everyone's creativity.

Day 5: Creative Choice Day & Gallery Celebration
We'll wrap up the week with a variety of fun. Some students may be finishing up projects from the week, others may explore and use the time as an open studio. Depending on age and interests, campers may also create sun catchers, bookmarks, pop art prints, picky pads or additional mixed-media artwork. We'll celebrate the week's accomplishments by sharing our creations and reflecting on everything we've learned together.

By the end of the week, students will head home with a collection of meaningful artwork—plus art supplies to keep the creativity going long after camp ends.

Please add your child’s name, age, and a few fun facts or favorite art activities in the notes section when registering.
